During a recent question and answer session with the year 6 students, some of the year 7 students were happy and proud to share their experiences of being in their first year of Secondary.
Here is a snapshot, giving you a sneak peak into what it feels like to be a year 7 student in Global Jaya.
‘I feel happy to be one of the year's six transition day representatives. It was fun expressing myself about how secondary is in general. The details we have covered would positively impact the year six students as they move into MYP. They know what's ahead and what is needed to plan.’ Eddie 7B
‘Explaining how it is to be a year 7 student was an interesting experience and pretty fun. It gave me nostalgia for when I was in Year 6. My experience of moving from year 6 to 7 was not too interesting or exciting since I was online back then. So it just felt normal. I answered some questions from Year 6 about Secondary using my own experience. Honestly, I did not have too much experience in Year 7, but I did my best.’ Olivia 7B
‘As a presenter, I felt nervous at first. I was overthinking if I would stutter a lot when presenting. Although at the same time I felt happy being able to share my experience of moving from year 6 to year 7. I think my experience was not that bad, the hard part is because I'm new to this school. I explained some questions that the Y6 had when I’m presenting and I hope the information can help them be more confident in transitioning from primary to secondary.’ Vienna 7C
‘Transitioning to year 7 differs from person to person, for me it was relatively easy but shouldn’t be taken too lightly because the work is harder and the teachers will be less lenient with your late submissions and bad grades. If you need help just ask, the teachers are willing to help as long as you are willing to learn.’ Aqila 7D
‘As a presenter, I felt excited and nervous to be answering some of the questions the Y6 had. I was excited to share my experience, yet nervous that I would answer the questions wrong since I’m also a new student in this school. In the end, I think that the information I and the other students gave would be a help to them later on. When I was in their position, I felt incredibly nervous to be going to Y7. The transition days helped me, and I hoped it did too for the Y6.’ Alulla 7D
