“It’s time, it’s time, it’s time for Reader’s Workshop!” Have you heard this chant from our young inquirers as you walk past the Early Years Shared Area? If not, come check us out! It’s our new ritual to signal the start of a special time between teacher and teachers… aka our students.
Term 4 marked the start of additional sessions to the timetable 3 days a week to build phonemic awareness through interactive and structured routines. On-campus learning has resulted in more time for blended groupings and focused guided reading time with Ibu Ashley. Systematic routines are set up as I do, we do, you do and Reception has been having fun learning how to warm up by repeating sounds, matching letters, chorally reading and using letter cues, participating in shared reading, and independently practicing word work, fluency, and comprehension skills in a face to face setting. We also are getting really great at sight word Bingo and understanding what our reading superpowers are!
