Third Grade Buzz
April 12th, 2026
Our Glenhope Gators showed incredible focus, determination, and perseverance as they completed the Reading STAAR assessment! We are so proud of the effort they put forth and the way they represented the Gator Way throughout the testing days. Students stayed positive, worked carefully, and gave their very best from start to finish.
Please note our STAAR testing dates below and remember that on testing days, Glenhope is closed to visitors, so please keep that in mind. Additionally, we would appreciate you not scheduling any appointments on these days, as students will have to miss class time during the testing window to make up the STAAR testing they missed.
Science 5th Grade
Tuesday, April 14
Math 3rd Grade
Tuesday, April 28
If they miss a STAAR exam, they will have to spend an entire day of school when they return to make up that test.
New and returning students can register for the 2026-2027 school year!
GCISD is in the planning stages for the 2026-2027 school year. It is important for you to register your child as soon as possible, as it will affect the number of teachers retained on every campus in the district. Thank you!
This week students will be learning...
Reading- We are excited to begin our biography project! Students will explore the lives of influential individuals while strengthening key reading skills, including understanding author’s point of view, using context clues, and identifying text structure. As we read and research, students will learn how biographers present information and how different text structures help organize important facts and ideas. This engaging project will help students build comprehension skills while discovering inspiring real-life stories. We can’t wait to see our learners think deeply, make connections, and grow as readers and writers!
Grammar-In grammar, we will also be focusing on important word study skills, including affixes and how they change the meaning of words. Students will also learn how to correctly use abbreviations for dates and streets in their writing. These skills will help strengthen vocabulary, improve decoding strategies, and support clear, accurate writing in everyday contexts.
