Third Grade Buzz
March 8th, 2026
Time is flying by this year! It’s hard to believe there are only 11 weeks left of 3rd grade. Somewhere between multiplication, reading passages, and the occasional missing pencil, the year has sped right by! We still have a lot of learning (and fun) ahead as we finish the year strong.
A couple of quick reminders:
There will be no school on Friday, March 13.
Field trip chaperone money was due February 20. If you have not sent this in yet, please do so as soon as possible.
Fun Run has been postponed until Thursday, March 12
With Spring Break around the corner, we know spring fever is starting to make an appearance. The warmer weather can make everyone a little extra wiggly, but we’re working hard to stay focused and keep learning strong all the way to the finish line.
Please also remind your student that toys are not allowed at school. Fidgets are allowed only if they fit in one hand and are silent. If toys come out during class time, or if a fidget becomes more of a distraction than a helper, it will be collected by the teacher and held until the end of the day.
Thank you for your continued support! Working together helps make our classroom a great place for students to learn, grow, and maybe even laugh a little along the way.
3rd Grade Starts at 10:25am

We will be riding buses that depart from Glenhope at 9:00 am and arrive at the Perot Museum at 9:45am. We will tour the museum in small groups from 10:00am-11:30am. Then we will eat lunch at about 11:30 am. The students will need to bring a disposable sack lunch and drink. We will watch Space: A New Frontier 3D Movie at 12:15. Lastly, we plan to leave the museum at 1:30 pm and will be returning to the school at 2:15 pm.
*Parent Chaperones meet in front of the school at the Picnic Table Area 8:30am for a brief meeting before we depart.
Keeping Up with Grades in 3rd Grade
As we enter the new semester, here’s a quick reminder on the GCISD grading policy for third grade: Grades reflect each student’s progress in a TEKS-based curriculum and include a variety of learning activities in core subjects, as well as enrichment areas. Formative grades showing progress during learning and summative grades measuring mastery through tests, writing, and projects. If a student earns a failing grade on an assignment or test (excluding semester exams), reteaching and reassessment opportunities are available. Students may redo assignments or retake tests within five school days of when the grade was posted in Skyward, and earn a replacement grade up to a maximum of 70, supporting growth and success throughout the semester.
