Perot Field Trip
Perot Field Trip
March 25th, 2026
We will be riding buses that depart from Glenhope at 9:00 am and arrive at the Perot Museum at 9:45am. We will tour the museum in small groups from 10:00am-11:30am. Then we will eat lunch at about 11:30 am. The students will need to bring a disposable sack lunch and drink. We will watch Space: A New Frontier 3D Movie at 12:15. Lastly, we plan to leave the museum at 1:30 pm and will be returning to the school at 2:15 pm.
*Parent Chaperones meet in front of the school at the Picnic Table Area 8:30am for a brief meeting before we depart.
Keeping Up with Grades in 3rd Grade
As we enter the new semester, here’s a quick reminder on the GCISD grading policy for third grade: Grades reflect each student’s progress in a TEKS-based curriculum and include a variety of learning activities in core subjects, as well as enrichment areas. Formative grades showing progress during learning and summative grades measuring mastery through tests, writing, and projects. If a student earns a failing grade on an assignment or test (excluding semester exams), reteaching and reassessment opportunities are available. Students may redo assignments or retake tests within five school days of when the grade was posted in Skyward, and earn a replacement grade up to a maximum of 70, supporting growth and success throughout the semester.

Reading- Module 7 Assessment, this will contain both an ECR and an SCR. We have been working hard on ECRs over the last 2 months. I have confidence students will do amazing!
Grammar-This week, students will strengthen their grammar skills workking on editing and revising sentences, verb tenses, sentence fragments, and compound sentences.

Continuing Unit 6- Fractions this week! Students are having a blast discovering what fractions are and using manipulatives.
This week the students will be learning...
I can represent fractions as distances from zero on a number line.

I can represent equivalent fractions with objects, models and number lines.

I can explain why two fractions are equivalent. (TEKS 3.3F)
To help your child at home with these skills-
Practice their multiplication facts/ skip counting. (Students can log onto canvas for a link to our songs and online flashcards)
Work in independent practice workbook on pages section K and L
(pg. 123-132) to begin. Will be moving onto section M later in the unit.
Practice division and multiplication multi-step story problems.

This is a tool we call 'UPS Check!' Using this model helps the students better understand and create a plan before solving when they come across story problems. I HIGHLY encourage you to practice using this model with them while solving story problems.

We will be doing recycling projects this week in Science. One activity was found by a third grader last week. He created the information picture below in hope that we could collect egg cartons from you to do a class recycling project. Thank you for your support.
