Next week: We will begin Module 8, exploring this essential question: What can we do to make more healthful food choices? We will read an informational text, "Eco-friendly Food" and learn about text and graphic features and author's purpose. This unit will focus on writing an opinion essay.
This Week: We will dive into money and time word problems!
Last Week: We problem solved with measurement and conversions. The biggest struggle seems to be multi-step conversion problems. I will put a few word problem examples below so that you can see some of the questions they are being asked to complete.
Sample Converting Questions:
This Week : We explored weathering, erosion, and deposition and how they change our Earth over time. The forces of wind, water, ice, plants, and animals have enormous impact on our lands.
Next Week : We will learn about Earth's natural resources (renewable and nonrenewable) like air/wind, water, sunlight, plants, and animals, coal, oil, and natural gas. We will talk about how humans use these to gain energy and the importance of conservation.
We will have a science test on Wednesday, March 11 over everything we have covered since winter break. This includes seasons, moon phases, climate vs weather, the water cycle, weathering and erosion, and Earth's natural resources.
This Week : We began our week 21 Newspaper about cattle drives and the importance of the ranching industry in Texas. Students completed a group project mapping trails, packing a chuck wagon, and wrote stories from the points of view of cows and cowboys. This project will be up for display during open house on March 12.
