This week: We began Module 7: Tricksters and Tall Tales. This unit focuses on central idea, figurative language and character development. We will be writing imaginative stories and continue working on our RACES strategy.
Next week: We will read a folktale and fable. We will discuss theme, characters and figurative language as well as draft our imaginative stories!
This Week: We will begin our unit on Measurement! We will discuss customary and metric units, time, and perimeter and area!
Last Week: We reviewed fractions, practiced our strategies and took our fraction test.
This Week : We explored patterns in the water cycle and tracked types of weather and how climates change over time.
Next Week : We will finish our unit on climate and weather. We will move on to weathering of natural materials. This looks materials being broken down over time by things like water, wind, and ice wedging.

This Week : We began our week 20 Newspaper about the civil war in Texas and the process of reconstruction that followed. We learned about the causes of the war, important Texas figures of the time, and how the war came to an end, including the emancipation proclamation and the meeting at apomattox courthouse in Virginia.
Next Week : We will begin our week 21 newspaper about the reconrstuction period following the civil war. We will cover constitutional amendments that followed the war to help put the nation back together. We will also learn about more immigration to Texas and the positive impacts they have made on the Texan community and economy. We will also begin lessons about segregation during this time in American history.
Snack will be at 9:10 each morning. If your child wants a snack, they need to bring a nut free snack. Due to allergies, we are no longer allowed to provide snacks.
Library will be each week. Please remind students to keep their library books safe in their backpack!
