This looks like a fun way to see all the animals we have been learning about.
Mrs. MacMahon’s Mission:
Star Student is Daniel Feather! Daniel lives with his mom, dad, little brother, and his dog Storm. His favorite colors are teal and blue, and he enjoys watching Ninjago and How To Train Your Dragon. Daniel’s favorite sport is baseball and favorite book is Back to Dog-Gone School and he enjoys eating spaghetti and chili. When Daniel grows up he wants to be a race car driver. He says he’s special because his family loves him. We love having Daniel as part of our classroom family.
WHAT A BUSY WEEK!
We stayed at the farm this week and stopped to visit with the Little Red Hen. We read different versions of the story and looked for similarities and differences between them. We had some good conversations about the importance of cooperation and why the little red hen should or should not have shared the bread. We continued to work on identifying and producing rhyming words, counting syllables and listening for beginning sounds in words and finding words that begin with the same sound. In math, we continued to work on number combinations to 10. This was hard for many students; please help them practice at home. In social studies, we learned about important citizens in U.S. history.
This week we found out what happens when Mrs. Wishy-Washy tries to give her animals a bath! Ask your child to re-tell you this silly story! We have been hard at work listening to and identifying beginning and ending sounds in words. In math, the students worked on making combinations to 10 and addition. We continue to work on counting from 1 - 100 and backwards from 20 to 1. In social studies, we learned about Stephen F. Austin and Jose Antonio Navarro who were important historical figures and leaders who helped shape the state of Texas. Following the Gator Way is something that good leaders always do!
SNACK
We had SO MANY students without a snack this week. Please remember to send your child to school with ONE healthy snack every day. Thank you!
READING BAGS
On Friday, some students brought home their reading bag with four books in it. The expectation is for them to read all four books every night to help them develop fluency. The students need to return their bag on Fridays so they can get new books. PLEASE be sure your child keeps the books in their backpacks when not being read, in case the teacher needs to change the books out on a different day. If your child did not bring home any books, they will be bringing them home by the beginning of November.
FUN FARM FRIDAY ~ OCTOBER 24th
We are still finalizing the details, but this Friday the kindergartners will be enjoying some fun activities to celebrate the end of our farm unit. Our wonderful PTA will be providing a pizza party lunch for the students! If your child does not like pizza they are welcome to bring a lunch from home or purchase lunch from the cafeteria or if your child has food allergies and cannot eat pizza, please let your child's teacher know ASAP.
50th Day of School
Monday, October 27th is the 50th Day of School, as well as the first day of Red Ribbon Week. Your child is encouraged to wear 50's attire to school. So girls, put on your poodle skirts and saddle shoes and boys, roll up your jeans and slick back your hair; let’s get ready for a rockin’ good time!
📚 Dress as Your Favorite Storybook Character Day and Parade
Friday, October 31st 📚
To celebrate our love of reading, students are invited to come dressed as their favorite storybook character! Be creative and have fun bringing a favorite story to life.
Please remember:

Wear shoes suitable for school activities
We can’t wait to see all the wonderful characters roaming our halls! Parents are welcome to join us and watch the parade!
