Grand Blanc Orchestras
Grand Blanc Orchestras are committed to providing a high-quality, equitable education that helps every student reach their fullest potential. In alignment with the mission of Grand Blanc Community Schools and Grand Blanc Performing Arts, we challenge and support all students as they work toward achieving their personal and musical goals.
We strive to foster meaningful musical growth for every musician. Through daily rehearsal, performance, and ensemble collaboration, our students learn to play with strong technique, listen deeply, communicate musically, and express themselves with confidence.
Our goal is to build and maintain a rich tradition of outstanding music-making within the Grand Blanc community—one that celebrates dedication, creativity, and a lifelong love of music. Students in our orchestras develop strong technical foundations, ensemble musicianship skills, expressive abilities, a deeper connection to their school and community through performance, and a lifelong love of music.
Building Musical Excellence
The Grand Blanc Instrumental Music Program is dedicated to providing meaningful, high-quality musical experiences for every student. We believe that the heart of our program - Concert Bands and Orchestras - is where students make their greatest day-to-day growth. These core ensembles form the foundation of our curriculum and consistently receive Superior ratings at Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Festivals, reflecting both the strength of our instruction and the dedication of our students.
Our teaching philosophy centers on developing strong playing fundamentals, active listening, ensemble awareness, and expressive musicianship. Above all, we aim to inspire a lifelong love of music through challenging, supportive, and engaging rehearsal experiences.
Beyond the core of our program, students can extend their musical journey through a wide range of extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities, including:

Our student leadership program provides additional avenues for growth by helping students build responsibility, communication, mentorship, and organizational skills. We also encourage private study and independent musical exploration, offering guidance and resources to help students reach their full potential.
We take great pride in our students and alumni, many of whom continue their musical journeys in college, in professional settings, or as lifelong musicians and supporters of the arts.
The GBHS Instrumental Music Program is a robust program that offers a wide range of opportunities for students to explore their musical interests and passions. Whether they are interested in playing in a large ensemble, such as the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Orchestra, and Advanced Orchestra, or prefer to join one of our smaller ensembles, such as Jazz Band or Chamber Ensembles, there is something for everyone.
At the heart of our program is the desire to see all of our students succeed. We recognize that this can only happen when students are challenged and pushed to reach new heights in their musicianship. Our faculty and staff work closely with students to develop their skills, cultivate a love for music, and create an environment that encourages growth and exploration.
The success of our program is due in large part to the collaborative efforts of our community. Our students are motivated and driven to succeed, our parents are supportive and invested in their children's success, and our staff and administrators work tirelessly to ensure that our program continues to thrive. Together, we create a magical experience that enriches the lives of all involved.
We are proud of the many accomplishments of our program and the impact it has had on the lives of our students. We are committed to continuing to push our students to new heights and providing them with opportunities to grow and excel as musicians.
