Jazz Band
About
The Grand Blanc High School Jazz Band is an extracurricular ensemble whose members are chosen by audition. Auditions will be held at the beginning of November, and rehearsals will start shortly after. Auditions results will be based on musicianship, dedication, reliability, attitude, and playing ability. Members of the Jazz Band will explore various eras of jazz and swing music through literature, recordings, and lecture.
Prerequisite: Audition and/or instructor approval
Typically, we have two jazz bands with about 40 members total. We plan to have two jazz bands this year as well, but we need YOU to make that possible!

Q: I've never played jazz music before, so will I be lost?
A: No! This is your time to learn about jazz.
Q: What is the time commitment?
A: Two 60 minute rehearsals per week and one major performance.
Q: My instrument isn't in jazz bands. Can I still do jazz band?
A: Yes! We will get music that you can read on your instrument, or you can try a different instrument.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: $40, which covers music purchases and a guest instructor to work with the group
