Pep-Band
Welcome to the 2023-2024 Grand Blanc Pep Band!
What is pep band?
The Grand Blanc HS Pep-Band is a group of high school band students that help promote school spirit at a variety of events around the school. The group primarily rehearses on Wednesdays and occasional Fridays from 2:45-3:45pm starting in November and ending in late February. We perform at Boys and Girls basketball games on Friday evenings. On gamedays, we will have a brief warm-up and rehearsal to prepare for the performance. As long as you are a GB student and you have an instrument, you are welcome to join!
why join pep band?
1. It is a great way for band members to get involved in extracurricular activities!
2. The weekly time commitment is small, and it our season is only three and a half months.
3. The music is new and exciting! We have updated the Pep Band music book to be relevant for YOU!!
4. You have the special opportunity to create an adrenaline-pumping, spirited, and exciting environment for the basketball games.
5. Pep Band is cool, duh.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Q: How much does it cost?
A: There is a minimal $15.95 membership fee for pep band. The cost will cover the t-shirt we use for all our performances.
A: We are also participating in a special performance at a Detroit Pistons basketball game where tickets cost $24 or $34 to perform. If you were to participate, you would only pay $39.95-$49.95 total for the season. Student performers will also need a ticket. (THIS PERFORMANCE IS NOT REQUIRED)
Q: What kind of music do we play?
A: Rap, funk, pop, high energy music!
Q: I may have some conflicts with a few rehearsals. How does that work?
A: Mr. Klee will be as flexible as possible to ensure you can be successful and also enjoy the pep band experience. To be a member, you must attend all rehearsals and performances unless you have communicated your conflict at least 48 hours in advance with Mr. Klee.
If the conflict is small, it should be no problem!
Q: What other requirements are there to be in pep-band?
A: You must have a pep-band shirt.
A: You must be a GB student.
A: You must have access to an instrument and know how to play it.
A: You must be ready to give your energy to hype up the team and crowd!

Pistons Performance Details
Below is the timeline for your game night:
2:50 PM: Meeting in Band Room
3:00 PM: Load White Trailer with Large Instruments (Drums, Sousas,etc)
3:15 PM: Load Buses with Instruments and Students
3:30 PM: Buses leave headed to Little Caesars Arena
5-515 PM: Arrival
5-530 PM: Unload Buses/Practice in the Plaza
5:30 PM-6:00 PM: Doors Open. Escort into the arena
All instruments will need to go through security. No Cases – Instruments only. (Cases will stay in Buses)
6:00 PM: Go down to floor/tunnel
~6:30 PM: Primetime Performance
Attendees can go to Portal 9 to watch/take pictures etc.
After performance: Take instruments back to bus and re-enter arena to enjoy the game!
7:00 PM: Detroit Pistons vs Sacramento Kings Tipoff
9:45 PM: Approximate end of game
10:00 PM: Head to busses to leave for GBHS
11:00 PM: Approximate Arrival at GBHS
Below are some details about the Primetime experience:
I will lead all participants to the Olympia Sign (located between the Mixing Board and Mike’s Pizza no later than 6:05 pm. Only those performing and the coaches will be able to go down to the court.
We will leave all instrument CASES on the bus/cars. When you walk into the arena, all participants will hold their instruments in their hands.
Family, etc. can go to Portal 9 (Section 112) to take photos but are not allowed on the court.
Please leave any items, such as jackets, hats, etc., with others. The performers cannot have anything in their hands except their instruments.
Once the performance is complete, we will take everyone back up to the concourse by the Olympia sign to meet the rest of the attendees. From there, we will let the performers drop off their instruments at the bus and re-enter the arena. After they re-enter, everyone can enjoy the remainder of the night.
**You must purchase a ticket if you are performing and all friends and family must purchase tickets as well**
*All rows of seats being sold are GB Pep Band sections meaning students will be sitting in the same section as peers, friends, and families of the GB Pep Band*
