Sydney Active Learning Program

Human Rights and Civil Society

Program Overview

This program is a combination of pre-coursework in the fall semester and overseas training during the spring break to study various issues of multiculturalism, human rights, and civil society through active learning. Specifically, the program will cover the three areas of "Indigenous Rights," "Refugees and Migrants," and "Gender and Sexual Diversity.

In the preliminary classes, students will learn basic knowledge while also conducting their own research, focusing on case studies from Japan and Australia. During the spring break, the students will visit the University of New South Wales in Sydney to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the current situation in Australia through fieldwork at NGOs/NPOs, lectures by experts at the university, and workshops.

In the final week of the program, students will have an opportunity to present the results of their studies. All learning and presentations will be conducted in English for both the pre-course and the overseas study program.
