Drivers & parents: Thursday, March 31st, the city will block the section of Ohio Dr. in front of LTHS for the staged crash scene, during 2nd period, approximately 10:30AM-12:15PM.
Thursday, March 31, students will view a staged intoxicated crash scene in front of LTHS. They will be outside during 2nd period, until Mega lunch.
Throughout the 31st, the Grim Reaper will enter classrooms every 15 minutes and select a student victim, known as the “Living Dead”. This time period represents how often someone is killed in an alcohol-related accident. As students are pulled from class, a police officer will read each student's obituary written by their parents. At the end of the school day, the Living Dead, crash victims, and drunk driver are taken on an overnight retreat to enhance the learning experience.
Friday, April 1, SENIORS will be in the auditorium at 9:30AM to experience a “funeral” type ceremony while all classrooms show a broadcast of the ceremony.

Flu Season
We have had several cases of Influenza this week. Please be aware of symptoms and keep your student home if showing those symptoms. Although it typically peaks in February, it does last from September through MAY. Therefore, it is recommended that you get your flu shot as soon as possible (sooner is better than later). While flu vaccines are not always 100% effective in preventing illness, studies show they do reduce the risk of flu-associated hospitalizations, deaths, and prevent severe illness/symptoms if you do get sick (CDC).
Attendance
Please be mindful of FISD policy that students may not attend school if they have a fever (100.0 or higher) and cannot come back until they have been fever free for a full 24 hours without medication. Please keep your child home when they are ill to prevent spreading these infections while at school, sporting events, and other public places.
Flu Symptoms
Please familiarize yourself with the signs and symptoms of the flu and keep your child home if they exhibit them and seek medical treatment as early as possible. Influenza usually comes on suddenly and may include:
fever
headache/body aches
fatigue
cough/sore throat
runny/stuffy nose
nausea
It is important to note that most people with the flu do NOT have all symptoms, and may only have a few. A common cold is usually milder, comes on gradually, and may include cough, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose but rarely causes fever, headache, body aches, or fatigue.
Prevention Measures
The single most important way to avoid spreading illness to others is to WASH YOUR HANDS!
Parents should consider having their families vaccinated against the flu.
Stay home when ill to avoid spreading germs and illnesses to others.
Practice coughing/sneezing etiquette to help stop the spread of germs:
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and wash hands!
Put your used tissue in a waste basket.
If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands
Contact the nurse if you have any concerns: Beth Evans, BSN, RN 469-633-6608 or EvansT@friscoisd.org
Congratulations to these students across the district who were successful at the State AcDec Competition!

In FISD, school counselors have traditionally served as the link between struggling families and outside resources. But with limited time and more students and families in need, the District dedicated $2.1 million in federal COVID-19 relief to provide additional support.
School support specialists are able to take a personalized, hands-on approach to assisting families, and the majority are licensed social workers who are trained to provide ongoing support.
