Soon construction will begin at the CTEC in an expansion that will allow over 7,500 students to enroll in the fall of 2024.
“This expansion will allow FISD to continue to offer a wealth of future-ready learning opportunities as the community continues to grow and student interests evolveIn recent years, FISD has introduced new courses in cybersecurity, video game programming and esports as student interest in computer science and other STEM fields continues to grow. Soon, the District will also offer advanced esports and artificial intelligence classes. Demand for courses in health science have led to new dedicated spaces for this industry."
“The campus was always meant to evolve with the needs and dreams of students,” said Cunningham, now Chief Academic Officer for FISD. “It is the home of future teachers, doctors, welders, horticulturalists, lawyers, engineers, cybersecurity specialists and so much more, and it will continue to evolve as students do. Responsibilities of Parents/Guardians:
We are seeing extremely high numbers of positive cases, therefore, please err on the side of caution to help us control the spread of this highly contagious illness.
Parents/guardians should screen their students for COVID-19 symptoms each day prior to sending their student to school. If the student has ANY symptoms of ANY ILLNESS they should not attend school. Please follow current guidelines on keeping your student home when exhibiting any signs of illness or communicable disease (see When To Keep Your Child Home from School)
Covid-19 symptoms include ANY of the following, not ALL: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, and nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
IMPORTANT: cold and allergy symptoms could also be symptoms of Covid and are what we are commonly seeing right now; most cases we are seeing do not have fever, we have not seen any cases recently with loss of taste or smell. Assuming the symptoms are allergy related or something else is not providing the safe environment we want for your students and our staff.
For students that have exhibited symptoms of Covid, they must meet ONE of the following to return to campus:
1) at least 10 full days have passed since the beginning of symptoms OR
2) Provide negative Covid test result to Nurse Evans to clear before returning to campus—we cannot accept an “at home” test to rule-out Covid per FISD policy; however, we will accept them for positive results. OR
3) a note from a physician that identifies the individual’s symptoms as something other than COVID-19 (not just a return to school date)
Parents are required to report to the school nurse as soon as possible if their student has tested positive for COVID-19 or is experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
Isolation Period for students testing positive for Covid is 10 FULL DAYS:
FISD policy is still 10 full days of isolation after symptom onset (or positive covid test if asymptomatic). Even though CDC guidelines have changed and physicians may be advising you that it is okay to return, they cannot return until the full 10 days have passed. This is based on TEA and State Health Department guidelines.
After testing positive, there is no need for additional testing. There is no returning sooner than the 10 day isolation period even if there is a negative test prior to that date.
Athletes testing positive (this includes Cheer and Drill Team):
FISD require athletes to have clearance from a physician prior to returning to participation in athletic activities based on UIL recommendations. This letter of good health must specifically state that a full return to sport/athletics/participation is allowed. This is to ensure that the student does not have any lasting effects of Covid that could put them at risk if they exert themselves too soon.

The AP exam payment window for spring semester AP courses (Economics, Government & Psychology) is January 19-February 14.
Exam fees are available in Online School Fees beginning January 19. Payment finalizes the student’s AP exam registration. Students in a fall or full year AP course who have not paid for their exam can pay by contacting their CCMR facilitator by February 14. There is a $50 late fee per exam. AP Exam refund requests are due by February 14 and will incur a $50 fee per exam.

February 14 is the FINAL AP registration, payment and refund request deadline for Frisco ISD. No exceptions!
