Shattered Dreams is a two-day program that illustrates how dreams end due to the consequences of drinking and driving. The dramatization involves students at an alcohol-related crash on the LTHS campus. The drama plays out in front of the junior and senior student body on March 31st, 2022, and there are many ways to be involved!
Past students reflect that the experience is incredibly powerful. "For me, it felt really realistic because Jacqui (my sister) was in it. It really made me realize what it would have been like if she was really gone. The reality is that drinking and driving is about living and dying."
To give students a better understanding of the number of DWI-related deaths, an individual dressed as the "Grim Reaper" appears in a different classroom every 15 minutes to select a new victim. The victims are taken out of class and dressed in black t-shirts to symbolize the loss in visual numbers.
Juniors and Seniors who apply will be chosen to represent the consequences of a fictitious crash at a staged accident scene. You will want be a part of the experience! APPLY BY DECEMBER 17th!
During this online shopping season, be aware that your data and money could be vulnerable. Here are some tips to avoid holiday theft:
• Keep a clean machine. Before picking out that perfect gift, be sure that all internet-connected devices ‒ including PCs, smartphones and tablets ‒ are free from malware and infections by running only the most current versions of software, web browsers and other apps.
• Use secure Wi-Fi. Using free public Wi-Fi to shop online while at your favorite coffee shop is tremendously convenient, but it is not cyber safe. Don’t make purchases while connected to public Wi-Fi; instead use a virtual private network (VPN) or your phone as a hotspot.
• Lock down your login. Create long and unique passphrases for all accounts and use multi-factor authentication wherever possible. Multi-factor authentication will fortify your online accounts by enabling the strongest authentication tools available, such as biometrics or a unique one-timecode sent to your phone or mobile device.
Frisco ISD will officially offer two tuition-free online options for high school students beginning in the 2022-23 school year. Through FISD+ programming, students will have the option to take FISD classes online full-time or as a hybrid student. FISD+ is an instructional program developed to meet the growing needs of our students and families that will provide high school students the flexibility to learn at home with an FISD quality educator and curriculum in an online setting that meets and exceeds the Texas Education Agency standards. Starting January 4th (second semester), FISD is implementing a "Pick 2" breakfast program. As schools respond to product shortages, these items will be available during breakfast: Cinnamon roll, muffins, cereal, Nutri grain bars, yogurt, cheese, and pop tarts. They can select one or 2 of those items and juice, fruit, or milk as their breakfast. The multiple entree items will allow for flexibility and a greater choice! See the graphic menu and explanation of what students can order.

Recently the Frisco Education Foundation surprised educators - including LT's Susan Moran and Vicky Wong - with financial grants for innovative ideas.
Frisco ISD teachers consistently look for new ways to make learning fun and engaging for students and many of their ideas become a reality thanks to the support of the Frisco Education Foundation. “The Foundation sees how important it is to impact students and teachers through these grants,” said Allison Miller, director of the Frisco Education Foundation. “Teachers do amazing things every day and we’re honored to support them through these grants and enhance learning in the classroom.”

To report an absence, click “Report an Absence” on the LTHS homepage. Reporting an absence for multiple days?
If you are traveling or CERTAIN of the number of days your student will not be on campus, submit ALL dates just one time online. This parent excuse will be entered in our attendance system for all days at the same time - no need to resend each day.
If your student is sick and has a doctor's note until they are fever-free/recovered/etc., you should submit a DAILY excuse online and attach the doctor's note each day, until the student returns. The attendance will be updated DAILY. By attaching the doctor's excuse daily, the student is assured that records are accurate.
Please remember our philosophy that learning never stops. Weeks leading to the end of the semester are significant to curriculum closure and understanding, so we appreciate your support in consistent attendance. As always, students must check in / check out through the front office.

PTSA/STUCO CLOTHING DRIVE
PTSA and StuCo are hosting a clothing drive from Feb. 14-17 to support Frisco Threads, a new FISD student clothes closet serving students every week. So far we have given clothing to approximately 250 students and we have many more waiting. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of donations and support from our community to make this happen. This holiday season is a good time to go through closets and spring clean! We are looking for gently used clothes, hangers, shoes, etc. More info about how to donate will follow in the New Year! We appreciate all the support.
PTSA's mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Please join our PTSA for just $10, Click Here or call 1-800-TalkPTA.
THANKS to all of our LT students, parents, administrators, and teachers who participated in the SOE Survey. The results identified our main focus area as Communicating Effectively. We will now turn our attention to developing an action plan in helping families support their child’s learning.
