FISD DISTRICT COMMUNICATION: ALL student absences, including those related to COVID, should be reported via "Report an Absence" Tab on our LT website. Email LTHSAttendance@friscoisd.org or “Report an Absence” on the LTHS homepage. Absences are excused if the student has tested positive, has symptoms consistent with COVID-19 as determined by the school nurse or has voluntarily chosen to stay home due to COVID-19 concerns, including notification of a positive case in the student’s classroom. All absences, both excused and unexcused, count toward the state’s compulsory attendance law. When a student's attendance drops below 90 percent but remains at least at 75 percent of the days the class is offered, the student may earn credit for the class or a final grade by completing a plan approved by the principal.
We have seen a significant drop in our numbers of positive Covid cases! However, it is still very important to screen your student for symptoms of illness.
Parents/guardians should screen their students for COVID-19 symptoms each day prior to sending their student to school. Please follow current guidelines on keeping your student home when exhibiting any signs of illness or communicable disease (see When To Keep Your Child Home from School).
Covid-19 symptoms include ANY of the following, not ALL: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, and nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Parents are required to report to the school (via attendance form submission) as soon as possible if their student has tested positive for COVID-19 or is experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

National School of Excellence Update
The PTSA Excellence Team analyzed results of a survey created by the National PTA School of Excellence and sent to our LT community in November, and the team selected the opportunity to increase positive responses to survey statement 7: “Our school helps families understand how they can support their child's learning.” The Excellence Team’s objective supporting this opportunity is to increase family engagement supporting student success. The team is finalizing their action plan and will provide updates in this newsletter, PTSA website, and social media with specific actions taken throughout the semester to achieve our objective. Our measure of success is an increase in “always” responses to the upcoming follow-up survey in April for the statement “Our school helps families understand how they can support their child's learning.” Our award for success is a national 2-year designation of LTHS as a National PTA School of Excellence.
