Visiting Teachers

Maxwell has had visiting teachers from Spain for the past 20 years. This exchange program has made a significant impact on Maxwell and the success of the entire FCPS Spanish Immersion Program (SIP).

Currently, there is one visiting teacher from Spain, María Mato (fourth grade) and three former visiting teachers Ana Sánchez (first grade), Raúl Chamorro (music) and David Mato (Intructional Media). The teachers have made, and continue to make lasting contributions to our students, families, and the local community.

The teachers have been recognized by magazines, state language associations, families from former students, etc. and have taken leadership helping our school district with new visiting teachers from Spain that arrive in Fayette County on a yearly basis. Also, David Mato has been a presenter for three years at the proffesional development organized by Ministerio de Educación de España for new visiting teachers in the United States.
