Cultural Exchange Program

One of the many benefits of the Visiting Teachers from Spain program is that educators are able to establish correspondence with a partner school in a Spanish-speaking country. During the 2017-2018 year, the intercultural exchange for Maxwell occurred with Colexio M. Peleteiro of Santiago de Compostela. The enacted plan, developed by Maxwell's teacher, included a quarterly exchange consisting of the following elements:

-Video presentation in which the students made introductions.

-Letter correspondence in which students discussed how winter holidays are celebrated in their countries of origin.

-Video presentation of cities in which the students shared information about Lexington, KY and Santiago de Compostela.

-Letter correspondence in which the students shared their summer plans.

As a result of the success of this project, during the 2018-2019 academic year, Maxwell is implementing three cultural exchange projects, with the first focusing on Escuela "Nuestras Bendiciones" in San Andrés de Itzapa, Guatemala, the second with "Colegio de Montañita" in Joya Honda, Guatemala, and the third one with "Manna project international" in Los Chillos Vallley, Ecuador. These three projects are facilitated through the Book as Bridges organization that is based in Lexington, KY. The coordinator from the organization that is facilitating the project is Shayne Wagner, a former Maxwell graduate!
