Parade of Nations

September is National Hispanic Heritage Month . At Maxwell, we annually commemorate this event in a special way by celebrating the diverse heritages and ancestral backgrounds of all of the students and staff in the school!

On September 29, 2017, the entire school participated in a cultural parade. Students and staff represented their heritages by carrying flags and dressing in the traditional clothing of the native countries of their families. As a school we sang together “De colores” (Made of Colors), a traditional Spanish language folk song that is well known throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

As a school we embrace that we come from different places and we learn from each other's culture. The Parade of Nations is a special time to celebrate the rich cultural diversity that is unique to Maxwell Elementary.
