This project can be completed in ONE day. So do that!
As you may have learned from Spider-Man, with great power comes great responsibility.
Having said that, disfiguring and re-colouring your face in Photoshop is fun, so let's do that today!
Today's feature Photoshop tool is the Liquify Filter.
Your teacher will demonstrate some of the fun things you can do with the Liquify filter.
To get started, follow these steps:
- Right-click your background layer and select Convert to Smart Object.
- Go to Filter > Liquify
- There are various tools on the left sidebar that you can play around with. Note that the reconstruct tool will put everything back to its original state. On the right side of the screen you can find some specific "face-aware" adjustments that are also effective. You must click OK to accept your change.
- If you wish to go back to edit the Liquify filter later, just look at your background layer and double-click on the little filter sub-layer underneath it.
PROJECT: IRRESPONSIBLE PHOTOSHOP ASSIGNMENT
Your task is to find an image of a person's face and to change it drastically and ridiculously. Specifically, make some adjustments with the Liquify tool and then make at least two additional colour changes (Hue/Saturation adjustment layers recommended).
To change colour in a subtle way, have your brush Opacity or Flow set to a low number like 20% and then you can "paint in" the area multiple times...treat it like a real makeup brush!
You must demonstrate use of:
- Liquify Tool to distort facial features
- Adjustment Layers and Masks to change colours of certain features
- The adding of new colours to the image.
Warning: Only the subject should be affected. Be very careful about your background. When using the Liquify tool, you don't want brick walls or other elements to be affected. Use freeze masks with the Liquify window to keep your changes to where you actually want them.
