Drills

FIRE DRILLS:

Fire drills will be held at least once a month. When the fire alarm sounds all students and teachers leave the building immediately. Walk, do not run, as rapidly as possible from the building following the Standard Response Protocol procedures (SRP). Teachers should take with them their SRP Safety binders.

Procedure:

1. Fire alarm sounds

2. Bring the binder and classroom keys

3. Tell students to leave their items behind

4. Evacuate students to specified location

a. Northern half of old HS - go down north staircase, exit out north entrance, meet at west boundary sidewalk

b. Southern half of old HS - go down south staircase, exit out main entrance, meet at west boundary sidewalk

c. Shop - exit shop building, meet at west boundary sidewalk

d. Office/gyms/locker rooms - exit out activity entrances, meet at west boundary sidewalk

e. Commons/new wing - exit out east entrances, meet at playground

f. Elementary wing/lunch room - exit out either east door or south doors, meet at playground

g. Practice field - meet at playground

h. Track - meet at high jump area

5. Gather your students & take attendance

6. Use binder to notify if students are missing

a. Green - all present

b. Red - missing a student(s)

i. Use Voxer to see if any other teacher has seen him/her/them

7. Wait till admin clears you to return to the building (drill) or be moved to designated evacuation site (Horizontal Yellow Building)

INTRUDER IN THE BUILDING DRILLS:

Intruder in the building drills will be held semesterly. Standard Response Protocol procedures should be followed.

TORNADO DRILLS:

Tornado drills will be held each spring. When the sirens occur, teachers and students should follow the Standard Response Protocol procedures.

Procedure:

1. Tornado alarm sounds

2. Bring this binder and classroom keys

3. Tell students to leave their items behind

4. Evacuate students to specified location

a. Old HS - go down south staircase, proceed to locker rooms

b. Shop - enter HS portion, proceed to locker rooms

c. Office - take cover in office restroom or vault

d. Gyms/locker rooms - proceed to locker rooms (if full, gym entry restrooms)

e. Commons/new wing (HS) - proceed to commons restrooms

f. Preschool/community weight & classroom - proceed to community restrooms

g. Elementary wing/lunch room - proceed to elementary restrooms

h. Practice field - proceed to locker rooms

i. Track - enter east wing, proceed to commons restrooms

5. Gather your students & take attendance

6. Make sure students are sitting on the ground in a crouched position, covering their heads with their hands.

7. Use binder to notify if students are missing

a. Green - all present

b. Red - missing a student(s)

i. Use Voxer to see if any other teacher has seen him/her/them

8. Wait till admin clears you to return to class (either in person or announced)

BUS EVACUATION DRILLS:

All K-12 students participate in bus evacuation drills each year. This drill is coordinated with A&M, Inc, a local company contracted for all school transportation.
