4038 Professional Growth
Every six years, permanent certificated employees shall give evidence of professional growth. Six semester hours of college credit shall be accepted as evidence of professional growth.
The board of education believes the goal of professional self-improvement to be inherent in the responsibilities of each certificated district employee.
Employees who have achieved permanent status and whose positions with the school district require State Board of Education certification shall show evidence of professional growth by obtaining not fewer than six semester hours of credit from a college or university every six years. In the alternative, such other activities as are approved by the Board, which may include, but not be limited to, educational travel, writing for professional publications or work on educational committees. The superintendent is charged with drafting the rules and regulations for such arrangements.
A Professional Growth Committee will be established to review professional development activities. This committee will consist of the superintendent, principal, guidance counselor and one secondary and an elementary teacher. The teachers will be selected randomly by the administration at the beginning of each academic year.
