AFTER SCHOOL ACADEMIC SUPPORT PROGRAM (ASASP): Determined on a year by year basis
The mission of Exeter-Milligan Public Schools is to educate and motivate all students in a safe, positive learning environment. It is the goal of the After School Academic Support Program to provide support for those students who seemingly are in need of additional academic assistance after the school day has ended. If this program is made available it will be available for students in grades 3-12 and will start the second full week in September. Start time of the ASASP is 3:30 p.m. and goes until 4:45 p.m Monday through Thursday (unless otherwise noted). Please note the following.
On Monday morning of each week (or the first day of the week), a down list is generated through PowerSchool.
If a student is failing two or more subjects the students will be ineligible until the following Monday.). If a student is failing one class or has a grade of D in two (2) classes, the student will be assigned to the After School Study Program until receiving a passing grade or has a D grade in only one (1) class
Teachers are required to notify the parent(s) of any student who is down in their class via email or phone call to communicate what is needed from the student to improve his/her grade(s).
A certified teacher or paraprofessional will supervise students during each of the ASASP sessions.
Students may voluntarily attend the ASASP in order to receive assistance or study in a safe, positive learning environment.
Parents will need to pick students up at 4:45 p.m. when the ASASP session is over.
At the end of each school year, it will be determined if the program will be offered each year based on its effectiveness and the effort students put forth during each ASASP session. Notification as to whether or not the ASASP will be offered will be sent out in the August newsletter and will also be included in the first two Friday notes.
