COMMUNITY RELATIONS:
Attending Community Activities. Your membership in community activities is indicative of your attitude toward the community. Do not spread yourself too thin, but your participation is important. Too often, teachers are accused of not taking part in the community life.
News Release For Papers. Interpreting our schools activities to the public, keeping the public informed and public relations with the community is one of our important tasks. News of important and/or interesting events and activities is usually welcomed by the local newspaper. Each month teachers will be assigned a time in which they are required to submit newsworthy information to the superintendent for publication in local newspapers.
PARENT VISITATION:
If no legal prohibitions of which the school district is made aware are in effect, a parent or guardian, or those with written authorization by a parent or guardian, may make limited arrangements to attend and observe his/her student or students. The arrangement requirements are:
1) Advanced notice of at least 12 hours to the building principal, detailing who and when the visit is requested.
2) All visitors should first report to the main office in order to obtain a visitor’s badge. If you notice that a visitor comes to your classroom or is in the building without a badge, you should politely ask them if they checked in at the office.
3) A limited visitation of 45 minutes per student (this time limit does not include joining the student for lunch) with prompt arrival and departure expected.
4) visitors will be provided a designated place to sit and observe; they are not to become directly involved in the instruction. The principal will not authorize initial visitations for multiple attendees or additional visitations for anyone for whom the principal deems may cause a disruption in the learning process.
