OPERATING SCHOOL VEHICLES:
School Vehicles. School vehicles are to be used ONLY for official school business. Teachers are to check with the administration before using any vehicle. The vehicle check-out sheet is available in the Exeter site office. PLEASE FILL THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL AFTER USE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS ONLY A ½ TANK OF FUEL.
Electronic Communication While Driving. Except as provided below, school personnel shall not use any electronic communication device to read a written communication, manually type a written communication, send a written communication, verbally communicate with others, or otherwise communicate with others while operating a school vehicle or while using a school-issued electronic communication device while operating a private vehicle. This prohibition includes but is not limited to answering or making telephone calls, engaging in telephone conversations, and reading or responding to e-mails, instant messages, or text messages. Teachers who are found to have violated this policy are subject to suspension from driving school owned vehicles for a period of time. Repeat violations are subject to suspension from driving school vehicles for the remainder of the school year and possibly into the fall semester of the new school year.
The superintendent or building principal may grant exceptions and allow verbal communication on an as needed basis for specific district-related worked based upon employees’ duties and responsibilities.
Drug Testing of Drivers, Drivers for the school district must be free from drug and alcohol use or abuse. The school district will test drivers as permitted under state and federal law and in accordance with board policy.
