OBJECTIVES OF PARTICIPATION
What are the objectives of participation in sports activities at EMS Doha?
To be considered an educational experience, extra-curricular/sports activities must have specific and worthwhile objectives. These objectives include the development of:
Physical fitness and skills
Mental alertness
Ethical qualities
Constructive social abilities
Emotional maturity
Principles achieved by the interscholastic program
The principles, which are to be achieved by the Interscholastic Program, are to provide students with the opportunity to:
Develop physical talents to their maximum potential.
Engage in competitive activities, while promoting sound health, safety, and physical fitness.
Exemplify good conduct as a means of learning good citizenship.
Learn to appropriately experience both success and failure in an educational environment.
Learn from experience that consequences follow the violation of a rule.
Experience working as a team member, exercising self-discipline and self-sacrifice in order to achieve team goals.
Learn how to be a good teammate, making positive contributions, regardless of the role on the team or activity.
Experience a feeling of self-worth and develop self-confidence.
Experience in problem-solving and decision-making.
Engage in organized activities with other students whose backgrounds may be dissimilar from their own.
Learn to develop trust and accept the responsibility that comes with earning trust from others.
Create a positive rallying point for the school in order to help them develop school spirit and loyalty.
Skills steps a student must master in every sport
A student will be chosen to represent EMS for the QPPSSA tournaments if he/she will master the following skills:
-Kicking and passing in football -Handling pressure
-Throwing and catching in rounders, cricket, or baseball. -Teamwork and leadership
-Diving, turning , and finishing in swimming. -Time management and commitment
-Tackling and passing in touch rugby. -Competition and sportsmanship
-Passing and shooting in basketball and netball. -Management and responsability
Year 3 to 6 Virtual Mixed Indoor Athletics Competition organised by the QPPSSA ( Qatar Private Primary School Sports Association)
Year 3 to 6 boys and girls participated in the virtual indoor athletics. Some great results were achieved.Year 3 Team got 3rd Place.Year 4 Team got 2nd Place.Year 5 Team got 3rd Place.Year 6 Team got 5th Place.Congratulation to all students who were involved.
