How can we turn this into a building.....???
Strong base structure.
Brains are hard at work!
Good thinking!
Working well as a team!
What do you think?
Buildings should be beautifull AND practical Ms!
Engineering is exhasuting
Year 6 students were tasked to build a building that can withstand a strong gust of wind for a period of at least 20 seconds. They were given a limited amount of resources to complete this task. Student were encouraged to follow the engineering process and test their design throughout their building process. We also worked on time management.
Posing to promote
Photos and editing
Video interview
Interview content and blogs
Graphic art
Graphic designs to promote a message
This week tge students could choose their cmethod of creating content in a digital format. Some students choose to create graphic posters, blogs, podcasts, video intervies and other photo shoots. Much fun was had and the students enjoyed the process.
Tinkercad design
The students learned how to create an object in 3D that will be cut into a 2D object.
The laser cutter at work
It is fascinating to watch the laser cut such precision lines
Watching the laser at work
How cool is this?
This week the students learned how to use the TINKERCAD platform to design a bookmark in 3D and have it laser cut in 2D. They cut a first draft to see where they can improve their design and have it cut onto a coloured card.
Exploring Lego Robotics
Changing the code to make our robots do different tricks
Quirky creations
Aren't they cute?
The creations in action
The students making their projects all work together in our Lego city.
The year 6 students this week worked together in teams to build a Lego Quirky creation. Each team member had an opportunity to build a part of the creation and together the students worked on coding the robot. They then discussed and improved the code to make the robot do different skills and move in different directions.
Building a circuit
Following a circuit diagram to build the circuit
Problem solving
Why is it not working?
It all works
We did it!
The children this week learned how to build a circuit, draw a circuit diagram and problem solve when their circuits do not work. They will use this next week as they continue their mini project to build a wind turbine that will light up an LED bulb using only kinetic energy.
Drills
Saws
This week we learned about using equipment safely and what to do in case of injury.
Glue guns
Planning and building
Building circuits using LED's
Team work is a dream work!
This week the year 6's continued on their Wind turnine designs and circuit building. They worked well together and thier projects are looking amazing. Excited for the showcase next week.
This week the mini project continues and the students spent their lessons decorating and preparing their circuits. They are getting very excited as the end is near.
