What does Career Launch cover?
Career Launch is a rather new project within the Professional Development area created in the 2020/2021 term as a first step to change our area from STEP to Professional Development and is organised by ELSA International.
The mission of Career Launch is to prepare law students for the professional world through webinar series, practical sessions, Career Fairs, and mock interviews. The project seeks to provide law students and young lawyers with practical insight into the job market, as well as knowledge of various career paths that are generally not covered within the traditional legal curriculum.
Career Launch combines theoretical components with meetings involving legal professionals and is usually centred around specific topics. Participants are further given the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have acquired through mock interviews, which simulate real job interviews conducted by professionals. Upon completion of the programme, all participants receive a certificate of participation.

Sessions
The objective of the sessions is to explore various legal careers across different fields of law and to clarify for participants the academic studies and training pathways that lead to these professions. The topics should be as internationally oriented as possible, and the invited professionals should come from diverse backgrounds, including law firms, international organizations, universities, and companies, in order to provide the widest possible range of perspectives. This creates an opportunity for students to gain a clearer and more comprehensive overview of the various future career options available to them. They may also pose questions to the professionals regarding their working lives.

The objective of the Career Fair is to enable students to engage with as many different professionals as possible and to ask them questions. Participants may navigate through an online format among the various professional booths and explore their websites, informational materials, and job offers, as well as communicate directly with a representative. In order to ensure a successful Career Fair, it is important to include a wide variety of professionals, to feature well-known organisations in order to attract a larger number of participants, and to emphasise the discovery of multiple careers and workplaces rather than a direct job search (the latter would be more characteristic of a Job Fair).
Mock Interviews
Mock Interviews
Mock interviews are simulations of job interviews. They allow participants to act as real applicants in front of a professional who takes on the role of an employer. At the end of the exercise, the company provides personalised feedback to the candidates, enabling them to improve their presentation skills.
