The Intensive English Program (IEP) at USI is CEA accredited program that offers a skills-based curriculum designed for students of all levels of English proficiency. Seven levels of intensive English instruction, focus on building language skills and cultural knowledge. Our program of study includes academic classroom instruction, small and large group discussions, field trips, and out-of-class work. Our student-centered approach to instruction focuses on language learners and their needs for success.
Students attend four courses as part of the program; Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking and Academic Skills, where grammar is taught in context. Each course meets 3 times a week for ninety minutes each. Classes are generally small - up to 15 students and are taught by experienced and caring professors who either taught or studied abroad and have at least a master’s degree in the field. Smaller class sizes allow our students many opportunities to participate in meaningful class activities and receive individualized attention and feedback on progress. After graduating from the Intensive English Program, students are considered ready to enroll in an academic program at the University without taking TOEFL or IELTS tests. The program is offered at Affordable and competitive costs of $2,950 with books included. Other expenses such as living expenses, meals, health insurance and university fees are added to this total). Five 8 week sessions a year ( August, October, January, March and May) are offered for students’ convenience.
Some merit scholarship may be applicable to some IEP students which is determined by the IEP faculty members based on student’s success in the program.
