Central Michigan University (CMU) located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, was founded in 1892 and started with just thirty-one students. CMU has now become one of the U.S's 100 largest universities and has more than 50 locations across North America, including in Hawaii and Canada. The main campus has approximately 12,000 students and over 300 programs for undergraduate and graduate studies. CMU students can get involved in nearly 400 clubs, many fraternities and sororities, and the CMU Volunteer Center. CMU welcomes a wide range of life experiences and perspectives to our campus and hosts students from over 29 different countries. There is an 18:1 student-faculty ration, so class sizes are small and are taught by experienced faculty. A few popular majors include: business, accounting, marketing, engineering, biomedical sciences, health and fine arts. Intensive English Program
The English Language Institute (ELI) at Central Michigan University (CMU) was established in Fall 1992 to provide English language and academic skills training for both degree-seeking and non-degree seeking students. The ELI is fully accredited by both the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). The ELI has two programs: the Intensive English Program (IEP) and the Dual Program (English for Academic Purposes). We offer a total of five levels of English. Our courses include listening and speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, graduate writing seminar, tutoring & writing seminar and specialized one-on-one independent study courses. Classes are student-centered and there is special emphasis on preparing students to reach be successful in their degree programs. Each level is completed in 16-week long semesters and begin in January and August. Customized short-term programs are available in the summer and throughout the year. Our costs and fees are competitive and begin at approximately $563/per credit and customizable program fees are also available. We hope you join us!
