Intensive English Programs
Students who want to succeed in English benefit greatly from Syracuse University's English Language Institute (ELI) courses. The core program at the ELI is Academic English, designed for international students who are interested in academic English training before attending a university in the United States, or who are conditionally admitted to Syracuse University. ELI courses are also suitable for those who wish to improve their English to better prepare for success in their academic or professional pursuits. Our methodology is student-centered and rigorous, with an emphasis on academic written and oral communication skills.
The ELI offers additional programs in the summer that are specialized for unique purposes. These programs include English for Lawyers and English for Architecture. Other programs can be designed as needed for new cohorts of students.
Some additional services offered by the English Language Institute include peer mentors, conversation groups, and host dinner opportunities.
Tuition (2022) for one semester, equivalent to 300 hours of classroom instruction: $8,220
50% scholarship for attendees of EducationUSA IEP Showcase (see conditions below).

Attendees at the EducationUSA IEP Showcase will be offered a 50% tuition scholarship for 2022 intensive Academic English courses at the English Language Institute, provided there are courses suitable for their level of English proficiency.
