The Jiuzhaigou National Park was established in 1982. It is also known as Jiuzhai Valley. The size altogether is 720km2, the depth of the a lake is 44m and the lake size is 30km2. Jiuzhaigou National Park is known for it's multi-level waterfalls, colourful lakes, and snow-capped peaks.
There are so many different things in the Jiuzhaigou National Park. Some things consist of jagged alpine mountains, crystal clear blue, green and purple coloured lakes, amazing waterfalls, limestone, terraces, cool caves breath taking forests and shimmering lakes. There are more than 100 lakes in the Jiuzhaigou National Park! Some are Swan lake, Strawberry lake, Panda lake, Five flowers lake, Arrow bamboo lake and Mirror lake.
This wonderful place is located in Southwestern China. It is also on the north part of Sichuan Province and on the edge of the Tibetan Himalayan. Over 1000 people and 110 families live in the Jiuzhaigou National Park. There are nine Tibetan villages where the people live named He Ye, Jian Pan, Ya Na, Pan Ya, Guo Do, Ze Cha Wa, Hei Jiao, Shu Zheng and Rexi.
There are many plants and animals in the Jiuzhaigou National Park. Some are even endangered and threatened. There are over 220 species of birds and a lot of animals. Did you know that Giant Panda's love being near Panda lake? There are also Takins which are large hoofed mammals that are referred to as a goat antelope, there are also many more fascinating animals. The main species of birds are Spectacled Parrotbill, Snowy-Cheeked Laughingthrush and Rufous-Headed Robin. There are also two birds of prey which are the Golden Eagle and Kestrels. As well as animals, there are also plants. Some plants are White bark Spruce or some people call it Dragon Spruce, Sargeant Spruce, Yew, Katsura Tree, Three-pointed Fir and Spur-leaf Ling Chung.
Jiuzhaigou National Park has a lot of history. In 1979 it wasn't the national park as we know it as today, it was the site of extensive logging. Then the Chinese government banned the activity and made it a national park in 1982. In 1984, it was opened to tourists and also made an Administration Bureau. After, the development of space and rules was done in 1987. In 1992, UNESCO (United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) selected the site as a World Heritage Site. Then it has become this beautiful and amazing National Park today.
The climate in Jiuzhaigou National Park has four main seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) but is also cool and moist. It has shown that it is normally sunny during the day and rainy during the night. The best time to visit is in Autumn and late September mid October. As it snows in China, In March, the snow still hasn't completely melted. Although, in April and May, Everything will go green again.
Some interesting facts are, in 2016, there was over five million people that have visited, and there is only one specie of fish in the whole National Park called the Songpan Naked Carp. So, the Jiuzhaigou National Park is a really cool and amazing place.
