Kudos!
To us, to you, our program! Since I last wrote, the application period has started and interest in the program is as strong as ever. This can only be due to:
Our awesome students
Our awesome teachers
So keep on keepin' on, we're doing alot of things right and we should remember that!

We have also measureable progress in certain areas too, for example, we had a program development plan focused on increasing student attendance. The average absence rate went from 12.69% over all year groups in 2023 around this time of year to 11.66% when I just measured it at the start of April. That's progress, and, we still have more work to do to meet our goal. Kudos to you who have had great attendance so far this year and/or have been informing your mentor why you are absent when you are out.
We had another goal in terms of decreasing non-submission rates for the official IA drafts and final work. This was a little harder to trace, but, it does seem that generally we had less non-submissions prior to the "make up" study halls. In 2023, prior to the make-up sessions we had 27 non-submissions of official IA draft or final work. This year in 2024, we had 17 non-submissions prior to the make-up sessions. This is a promising development which could indicate that you as students have become better at managing your time and improving your self-effacy and self-agency. We hope so, because that is a major goal of the work we do here. Kudos!
Kudos also to our Economics students affected by their teacher's sick leave and to Dr. Freitas and Frida Jodin who have stepped up to help and make sure you get the learning experiences and content instruction you need to continue to progress in the subject.
Kudos again to Dr. Freitas who is planning, together with her students, a conference in October 2024 with the theme "Digital Economy". Be sure to save the date: October 19th (Saturday). If you come, you will get to hear about such topics as Robotics and AI, or, The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Economics, from experts in the field. There will be a combination of online and in-person keynote speakers. Stay tuned for more details.
