Here's what you'll see in the pictures:
KUDOS to Zhongxuan in IB23. He took part of the London International Science Forum over the summer through a scholarship opportunity.
Shown also in the pictures is Zhongwuan -working on his EE at Chalmers and also Anastasiia-working on her IA there too.
Zhongxuan and Anastasiia in IB23 are investigating the properties of terahertz radiation by observing how terahertz radiation interacts with various materials like silicon and quartz. This was done by varying the frequency of the electromagnetic radiation, which allowed for properties such as the refractive index and absorption coefficient to be measured for the sample materials. Terahertz radiation has a wide range of real-world applications, such as identifying material properties and identifying various chemicals, as well as terahertz imaging for biomedical uses.
As Zhongxuan Luo stated “the experience and opportunity for lab experience in Chalmers with Professor Serguei Cherednichenko was incredibly intriguing and inspiring, and I am very grateful for this opportunity.”
We would like to sincerely thank Professor Serguei Cherednichenko, for dedicating his time to teaching and guiding our students. His support is greatly appreciated, and his expertise has made a lasting impact on their learning.
FUN ACTIVITIES: Last June IB23 visited Upzone in Skåtas and Simi took pictures, check them out. Soon IB25 is going to go there for their own class activity! Pictures from that will come next time!
MORE FUN ACTIVITIES like the Meet and Greet with teachers and IB25 at the start of school.
BIO FIELD TRIP to Stenungsön: Every year all biology students in DP2 go to Stenungsön for a full day of practical field work. They study organisms and practice how to use statistical analysis on data collected during the day. The best day of the year according to the Biology teachers!
COLLABORATIVE SCIENCE PROJECT had their exhibition Sept 8 and the PreDP students got to vote on which group should win for various categories. See the embedded Presentation above with the announced winners too!
A THANK YOU MESSAGE from Hannah M who hosted last year's Sports Club.
From May 2025. 91% of students who were Full Diploma Candidates earned the Diploma. The worldwide rate was 81.3%. Our average total points was 33 (out of potential 45). The world average was 30.5. The average grade obtained by candidates who passed the Diploma was 5.19 (of a total 7). The average grade worldwide was 4.9. The most common reason for not earning the Diploma was not having at least 12 points in the Higher Level subjects.
The school has a connection to various scholarships and it can be hard to keep track. Some are handled by our counselors and some are handled by the scholarship secretary, which is me, your IB Principal. I want to draw attention to the fact that certain students can be eligible to apply for the Adlerbertska Hospitie Scholarship. The criteria to apply:
You do NOT have permanent residency in Sweden
You have an address you can give in your homeland to which you/your family INTEND to return.
You are in GOOD STANDING at school.
The application is on this linked website. The application is for the year 2026 and decisions will not be known or announced until around April 2026. BUT, it is still ok to submit this application already now. Submit to me, Krista, the white mailbox outside of my office. The instructions are on the application. You can get your study plan from the North Expedition, FYI.
Note there was recently, posted in Vklass, information about another scholarship that is handled by the counselors. Please look there for info about Kungliga och Hvitfeldstka scholarships and if you are eligible to apply.
Thanks for a great parent meeting in week 36. You should have received via Vklass message (or email sent through Vklass) the presentation.
The Counselor met students this week to promote awareness of expectations for how we treat one another. Building on the IB learner profile, students explored different scenarios that they have or might encounter in their teenage years that can be offensive or discriminatory. They learned how they can be responsible, take action, and respond to improve our learning environment.
Program Council is Thursday Sept 18 at 1600 in S205. I will see the representative for PreDP there!
We had so much fun at UPZONE Thursday, Sept 11. We all practiced some great IB learner profile attributes like risk-taker and being caring. The guide at Upzone said our students were SO GOOD, they were so friendly, they listened very well, and they caught on very quickly. We're proud of you PreDP and thanks also to Eric for organizing it and the mentors and student health who could take part!
Remember, you'll know if you have mentor time or assembly because you will see it on your schedule and go to the classroom listed. Unfortunately, Vklass can't show "assembly" but I believe that you can see "assembly" in Google Calendar or the Skola24 schedule.

Program Council is Thursday Sept 18 at 1600 in S205. I will see the representative for DP1 there!

Program Council is Thursday Sept 18 at 1600 in S205. I will see the representative for DP2 there!
You'll get to meet both the DP Coordinator and the CAS Coordinator during assembly in week 38.
You have an EE day Tues week 38. It starts in the S. Aula, don't be late!
More EE stuff in week 39, on Thursday is another EE focus and the full draft is due along with your 2nd reflection.
Take note that the following subjects have had or are about to have an Internal Assessment Deadline. Please be sure you are aware of our Assessment Policy and Academic Integrity Policy. In the section below, I have summarized some of the very most important points to be aware of. Some of your teachers may even ask you to read and sign the information below.
Because the following are official IB exam components, it is imperative that they are completed and submitted on time.
History IA Final was due week 36
Chem IA 1st draft was due week 37
Econ IA #2 first draft was due week 37
Math AA HL/SL first draft due week 38
Vis Arts Comp Study Criterion F Draft due week 39
Bio IA draft due week 40
Econ IA #2 Final draft due week 43
Psych IA draft of introduction due week 43
Des Tech Criterion C Draft due week 44
Remember, you'll know if you have mentor time or assembly because you will see it on your schedule and go to the classroom listed. Unfortunately, Vklass can't show "assembly" but I believe that you can see "assembly" in Google Calendar or the Skola24 schedule.
This information is found in the Assessment and Academic Integrity Policies. Here you find the most important points that can put your Diploma at risk. We have found that there are misconceptions about what constitutes plagiarism, which is cited as one of the most common issues in the IB. Did you know that even if you forgot to cite a source, that’s plagiarism? We hope you find this information proactive, preventative and supportive.
Definition of plagiarism: “the representation, intentionally or unintentionally, of the ideas, words or work of another person without proper, clear and explicit acknowledgment” (Assessment principles and practices—Quality assessments in a digital age).
Your teachers will teach you how to properly, clearly, and explicitly acknowledge sources.
You must submit your draft on the deadline. If you have an extenuating circumstance, you must talk to your teacher as soon as possible. Your teacher may not ultimately grant an extension.
Your teacher may only give you feedback on one draft. After that, you may ask for guidance or ask questions during lesson time scheduled for this purpose. Be sure you ask questions of your teacher if you do not understand the feedback.
Once the final is submitted, there are no further chances to make any changes, EVEN IF the teacher identifies plagiarism. It is the student’s responsibility to complete their own work; to acknowledge sources properly, clearly, and explicitly; and to ask questions before the final submission when necessary. The school librarian is also a resource in this regard.
The school cannot submit student work that is even suspected of plagiarism or any form of Academic dishonesty. It would be Academic Maladministration if we did.
If a student’s IA cannot be submitted to the IB due to a suspected violation of the Academic Integrity policy, the student will not get a grade in that subject and will not be able to earn the Diploma in that session.
The school’s current Re-take policy does not permit the re-doing of an IA. This jeopardizes a student’s ability to earn the Diploma in the long term as well. The student would need to find a school that accepts them for Retakes, including a re-do of the IA.
This is to underscore the importance of reading and reacting to your teacher’s feedback especially when they point out issues with citations, plagiarism or other forms of academic dishonesty. It is also to highlight the important zone between the draft and the final submission, because after turning in the final version, there is no chance to make corrections.
