Update regarding Economics and teacher on sick leave.
The teacher is currently back working at 50% and has Swedish National Program courses. This will continue up until December 17th
Changes in schedule or organisation that affect:
Nelisa's IB21 Econ SL group
Johan's IB21 Econ HL group
Johan and Nelisa's IB22 Econ HL and SL groups
One of Nelisa's TOK Monday groups (not sure which yet)
One of our Economics teachers (Johan) will be on sick leave until November 26th. The last time this happened, I arranged for students to have an online IB Diploma Program Economics teacher through Pamoja. After evaluation of that experience, we learned that it was not optimal for students and thus this time I will not consider that arrangement. I have also found that finding a teacher to teach this subject in English with IB experience can be a major challenge. The best solution for student learning is that we manage to have one of our own IB DP Economics teachers substitute for Johan's groups. Doing this, however, requires that we make changes to the schedule for it to work.
Nelisa will begin to take over Johan's groups from next week (Monday 23rd), however, for this to work we've had to make some changes in the schedule which you may notice from Monday.
One other organisational difference to know is regarding IB22: both Johan and Nelisa's group will attend lessons together in one large classroom. Thus, the course will be handled a bit more like a College-level lecture for the time that Nelisa is substituting. This happens to be experience that Nelisa already has had, having been a lecturer at University prior in her life. I have every expectation that our IB22 students will conduct themselves in this new type of learning environment with maturity, respect, and understanding that it is the best of all the options available.
