Computer Science Education Week December 7-13, 2020

December 7 to 11 , 2020 in Sturgeon Public Schools

Start Here: Download the Challenge and Competition Guide

When the year began, we intended to organize a system of challenges for all students, with a focus on grades 5-9. However, with all the disruption and change, we have shifted our focus to be an invitation for classes to join. We want all students this week to be challenged with computational thinking, but ask that teachers engage only as they can.

2020 Partnership

This year, Sturgeon Public Schools has partnered with Callysto to provide physical, circuit kits and robotic equipment to help bring programming to life! Callysto aims to provide K-12 students and teachers with novel digital skills and learning experiences. They specifically encourage traditionally underrepresented groups to get involved!

Note for Grade 5 and 6 students

Our partnership with Callysto allowed us to purchase Edison robots and micro:bits. All challenges on Friday, December 11 for grade 5 or 6s will relate to this hardware. To prepare, please try a few challenges linked above early in the week. The challenges on Friday will follow a similar pattern to those design challenges or past contests. We hope many grade 5 or 6 students will participate in these!

UPDATE. There will now also be a Coding Challenge for Grade 5/6 to allow more students to compete.
