Alberta Distance Learning - ADLC has complete courses (grades 1-12) available to use free of charge, aligned with the Alberta curriculum.

Boston's Children's Museum - Museum at Home provides a variety of activities for playing and learning.

Common Sense - Best Websites for Families

Dance Mat Typing - A free, interactive and fun way for students to practice their keyboarding skills.

Discovery Education Virtual Field Trips - Each no-cost field trip comes with a companion guide packed with standards-aligned.

Engaging Students - A wealth of resources to support student learning from Black Gold Regional Division.

EVERFI - Digital learning resources focused on the skills needed for life — skills in social-emotional learning, health and wellness, financial capability, and career readiness

Exam Bank - Division supported tool that has many practice questions for all grade levels in Alberta.

Flip - Flip (formerly Flipgrid) is a free web and mobile app from Microsoft where educators create safe, online groups for students to express their ideas asynchronously in short video, text, and audio messages.

Great Minds - offers its curriculum as PDF downloads for Math, English and Science

Khan Academy - Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.

Learn Alberta (Original) - All subject areas. Many starting resources to consider.

Learn Alberta (NEW) - Resources aligned with new curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Loom - Screen capture and video creation (free version allows 25 videos to be created)

Mr. Polsky Grade 5 and Grade 6 - All subjects - Activities/Textbook

Pixton - How to teach with comics - create graphic novels, comics, or simple story illustrations

Smithsonian - The National Museum of Natural History virtual tours allow visitors to take self-guided tours of select exhibits.

Smithsonian Education - A wealth of resources and digital tools to support inquiry-based learning and active engagement to spark creativity and curiosity. Applicable to Art, Science and Social Studies.

The Louvre - Travel to Paris to see amazing works of art with this virtual field trip.

Tynker - Programming skills for math and logic. Works with Google Classroom.

Typing Club - Practice Keyboarding skills

Typing.com - This site allows you to use Google logins to create classes and track progress, but there are lots of ads.

San Diego Zoo - A website just for kids with amazing videos, activities, and games for various subjects and grades.

Screencastify - Screen capture and video creation (free version allows 10 videos to be created)

Virtual Field Trips - We provide K-12 teachers with educational destination-based videos for social studies, geography, life science, and ancient civilization curriculums (requires subscription)

English Language Arts

ABC Ya - Students can listen to short stories read aloud to them as they follow along with the highlighted text (free subscription offers access to all games on a desktop and 6 games each week on a mobile device)

Epic! - Epic! provides access to thousand of high quality books for kids in K to Grade 6. Epic School is free for educators and students with class code log in access from 7 am to 3 pm when school is physically in session!

Free Children’s Stories  - Offers original stories for kids ages 3-10.

IXL - Resources for Math and English Language Arts for Pre-K to Grade 12 (free trial then requires purchase).

Prodigy - Students practice standards-aligned skills in Math and English as they play our fun, adaptive learning games. Teachers get full access for free.

Raz-Kids - Division purchased tool for K-4 classrooms. If you believe you should have a log-in and do not, please speak with your administrator.

Read Theory - A free online reading comprehension assessment tool for K-12. It allows students to read narrative, informative, or informational literary passages and answer corresponding comprehension questions, while tracking student performance and reporting progress to teachers. The free version includes lots of ads.

Read Works - ReadWorks is a resource for reading passage and lesson plans for K-12 teachers, based on the science of reading. Texts include pre-made worksheets, quizzes, and other printable materials to enhance the lesson. ReadWorks is free for teachers to use.

Starfall - A free public service to teach children to read. It includes language arts and mathematics for preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and third grade.

Story Online - Streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations.

Tumble Books - eBooks for younger students to read along (free trial then subscription required).

Social Studies

The Great Wall of China - This virtual tour makes history come to life.

National Geographic Kids - Learn about historical events and famous people from the past with articles, videos and games.

National Geographic Map Maker - Empower your learners to explore Earth's interconnected systems through a collection of curated basemaps, data layers, and annotation tools.

TIME for Kids - Current events for kids (requires subscription)

Access Mars - Explore the surface of Mars on the Curiosity Rover. 

Animal Cameras - Live cameras at the San Diego Zoo.
