Information from the CDE regarding post-secondary information:
From a funding perspective, evaluating courses as concurrent enrollment is only allowed for qualifying students starting in 9th grade.
We would recommend that you review Pupil Count Page on CDE that incudes that audit resource guide as well.
If the student is taking non-qualifying concurrent enrollment courses (such as not being in grades 9-12), then for funding purposes the concurrent enrollment courses would be evaluated as contractual education (please refer to that section of the Audit Resource Guide). If the student is in grades 9-12, then they can be evaluated as concurrent enrollment if the school/district has a cooperative agreement and is paying for the course tuition.
If a middle school student is taking an online course (that does not qualify as concurrent enrollment) through the IHE, this course could be treated as an alternative instruction course (i.e., supplemental online) if the course is included in your district’s catalog of courses using alternative instruction and the IHE is listed as the course provider. In this case the course should be flagged as supplemental online in your Student October Snapshot.
