Our studios are designed to help create high quality videos for online learning content. The main goal is to capture video and audio that is clear, clean, and visually appealing. The best practice for achieving this includes consistency, while also requiring customization in the areas of audio, lighting, and technological setup depending on subject and content. Working with the faculty, as well as the ID or other invested stakeholders, and conducting a practice shoot will assure the studio setup is customized to the needs of the individuals, as well as the learning content.
Lighting
Studio lighting consists of a standard 3-point style (Soft key on subject right, fill on subject left, and a back/ hair light for separation). The flat gray background is given a gradient by spot lighting from above.
Audio
A boom mic used overhead of subject to capture voice. This microphone must be close to capture the best sound and can be adjusted to front of subject if necessary. Faculty doing multifeed may be looking down at their own device, a front facing or low angle boom mic may be needed for audio clarity.

Clothing
Stripes or tight patterns should be avoided to prevent moire effect on camera. Gray is not advised since it may cause blending with the standard background. Solid colors or large patterns work best.
Make them feel comfortable with encouragement if they're nervous. Comfortable faculty help create the best on camera content
An alternative to green screen, background projection is a method of projecting images in real time behind the subject in studio. This can create visual intrigue or it can be used to differentiate content/subject/topic. These could be a real place or an AI generated image. On location plates are 10 minute .mov files that loop during the recording session.
Lighting
If background projection is an on location image taken outside, lighting may need adjusting to help simulate day light, including angle or color temperature .
