Lighting is soft and diffuses from all sources, including the background and on the subject.
Each setup is different depending on location and content, but prioritizing visually clean and interesting space when able.
Exposure should be consistent. No blown out windows from over exposure.
Footage is colored using vlog color space
The location ideally has noticeable depth within the space. It should allow for shallow depth of field with background details blurred, including in the space or outside.

Audio is captured depending on the style of content. Sit down interviews are recorded using a mounted shotgun, while content on location such as cooking demos, walkthroughs, and tours are recorded using lavs microphones.
At least two cameras are used whenever possible, especially for on-location interview style productions. The two cameras provide visual variety and allow post production flexibility when editing the on-camera sequences. This interview setup style is meant to provide a clean, focused environment for the viewers.
Camera setup includes shallow depth of field with a cinematic look on tripods for stable image.
B-roll recorded at 60fps, and occasionally at 24fps. B-roll recorded at a different fps helps stylistically differentiate it from footage of the subject.
Plates utilize on-location compositions in studio by rear projection, allowing popular locations to act as backdrops in a controlled space and appear as if Faculty aren’t in studio. Plate compositions should appear realistic for Faculty to be sitting/standing within, and captured at a proper sitting or standing eye line level. Backgrounds of plates should not be too busy, have too much movement, or be too symmetrical. Plates allow a wide range of possibilities in studio that would not be feasible on location.
Drone footage is captured in a more cinematic style, as opposed to “first-person view” Using a DLOG-M telephoto lens at 24mm, 70 mm, and 160mm lens
Lecture Capture is a portable multi-feed style of production that allows us to film faculty teaching in the classroom. We can capture up to 4 feeds simultanously, allowing for multiple cameras or computer sources to be recorded and switched between.
