Lighting
Consists of a standard 3-point style (Soft key on subject right, fill on subject left, and a back/ hair light for separation). The flat gray background is given a gradient by spot lighting from above
To properly light someone's face on Zoom:
Natural Light: Position interviewee facing a window to take advantage of natural light. This will provide a soft, even illumination.
Artificial Lighting: If natural light isn't available, use a lamp or ring light placed behind the camera to avoid shadows on the interviewee's face.
Avoid Backlighting: Ensure no strong light sources are behind interviewee, as this can cause their face to appear dark and shadowed
Adjust Position: Experiment with the light angle and interviewees position to find the most flattering setup, typically with light coming from the front and slightly above their eye level.
Audio
To capture the best sound recording on Zoom, follow these tips:
Quiet Environment: Ask the interviewee to find a quiet room to minimize background noise. Close windows and doors, and turn off any noisy appliances.
Test and Adjust: Do a test recording at the start of the shoot to check the audio quality and make any necessary adjustments before you start the interview.
Clothing
We encourage experts to wear what they are comfortable in. These are more laid back than our studio content. Our team should be on the lookout for things like a missed button or a popped collar.
Studio ATEs are captured like any other studio video would be captured. The only difference is the use of projected backgrounds and/or colored lights if requested to help differentiate them from the course content.
Zoom ISO
ZoomISO is a macOS application that separates the audio and video components of a Zoom call into individual files for each participant. This allows content creators, especially those working remotely, to have more control over the production. The files can then be recomposed in a vision mixer, switcher, or media server for a customized production. ZoomISO also supports a variety of output formats for popular production systems and can export HD video in supported Zoom calls.
Fishbowl
Fishbowl ATEs are used when there are a large number of subjects/experts participating at the same time. This allows for the video to be captured using VMIX, which allows for both iso-feeds of each subject, as well as live switching between them.
Lower Third Template
Our lower third template is used for ATEs and some custom projects. It includes name, position title and company name. This is a mogrt file template that can easily be altered in Adobe Premiere Pro.
