Labels
Labels are text boxes that are usually associated with a graphic, but can be on their own as well. Typically used for key terms, or labeling icons.
Callout
Callouts are for focusing on a single data point.
Speech & Thought Bubbles
Speech and thought bubbles should be treated as icons with the only difference being that they are connected to a character. As far as placement, they should overlap on top of the character circle.
Arrows
Arrows are used as a visual cue to guide the learner's eye from one point to the next. They can connect icons, represent an action, or move you through a sequence of events.
Highlight
Highlights are typically used in charts to highlight a row or column or a single cell.
