What is Google Meet?

Google Meet is how your child will be connecting with their classmates and teacher on Flexible Instructional Days.


Please keep in mind that Flexible Instructional Days are now asynchronous learning days, so the Google Meet Link is for office hours or used in an "as-needed" basis. To learn more about the update, please visit our District New Page.

Accessing Google Meet from District Issued iPads (K-5)

Downloading the App & Signing In

To use the Google Meet on the iPads, students should go to the Self-Service App and download Google Meet if it is not already on their device. Only verified East Penn School District accounts can join a Google Meet, which has to be started by a staff member.

Teachers will share Google Meet links with students through SeeSaw or Google Classroom at the elementary level in order to video conference with students or live stream.

Google Classroom

Some teachers will post the link to their Google Classroom. If that is the case, they can just simply click on the link and the Join Meeting.

SeeSaw

Teachers may post a link to their Google Meet in SeeSaw. Students can connect using this method, which will prompt the Google Meet app to open and connect.

Accessing Google Meet from District Issued Chromebook (6-12)

Accessing the Meet Extension or Utilizing Schoology

To access Google Meet on your Chromebooks, you can simply visit your teacher's Schoology page and click on the link. Since Meet is browser-based and you are already signed into Google, you will be taken right to their current meeting where you will be able to join.

  • Tip 1 - If you have privacy concerns and prefer your child not to be seen on camera MUTE the video. This way they can still feel part of things.

  • Tip 2 - Encourage your child to practice "good online behavior" by muting their mic when they are not speaking and posting appropriate questions in the chat window rather than interrupting the speaker.

What is my child's Google Username & Password?

All Google Usernames follow the same format: first initial of their first name, last name, last two digits of their graduation year followed by @eastpennsd.org. For example, If James Smith is in second grade, his username is jsmith30@eastpennsd.org.

For passwords, please contact your child's teacher and they will be able to lead you in the right direction. Students often think of their passwords as the nickname. So if you suggest that to your child, they may remember it. It is a combination of both numbers and letters.
