In 10th grade, I grew as a caring and compassionate person by learning to appreciate diverse perspectives in my AP World History class. When we discussed different cultures and belief systems, I realized how important it is to listen and understand before making judgments. In group projects, I made an effort to ask my classmates about their perspectives and experiences, and I noticed that we came up with stronger ideas when everyone’s voice was included.
This experience showed me that compassion is not just about being kind—it’s also about respecting differences and seeing value in perspectives that are different from my own. As I continue through high school, I want to keep practicing this skill by making sure others feel heard and respected in both academic and personal settings.
