What is the Executive Branch?
Introduction
The executive branch is important to the government and many people are involved, including the president, vice president, and the cabinet. This branch plays a major role in the daily operation of the government by managing federal programs that affect citizens across the country. Additionally, this branch does specific jobs to help the central, state, and local governments such as enforcing laws, negotiating treaties, and more. Understanding the executive branch is important because it has a significant impact on citizens.
The power in the executive branch has gradually increased overtime and because of that it can enforce laws. During the twentieth century, the expansion of government agencies and the need for faster decision making increased the authority of the President (The Executive Branch, 2026). This explains that the executive branch helps boost the power of those in charge of the executive branch and how the executive branch has become more influencing how the government operates. The executive branch does certain jobs directed by Congress this includes carrying out laws. In the executive branch, there is a direct policy statement called executive actions which deals with the President and it also follows along the lines of laws. The president can use executive actions as tools to help create and carry out policies while working within existing laws. These actions allow the executive branch to guide how policies are put in place and how government responsibilities are carried out (The Executive Branch, 2026). Executive agencies are government organizations within the executive branch that help the president carry out responsibilities and manage important government functions. These agencies ensure that laws and programs are properly enforced. The executive agency assists the President, the executive office of the president is a federal agency within the executive branch. The purpose of it is to support the departments and assist the President in carrying out responsibilities and making sure executive policies are properly put in place (The Executive Branch, 2026). This represents that the main part of the executive agency is to assist the President The executive branch is one of three of the branches of the government which is one of the main forces in helping the central government and has many responsibilities. The “U.S.” Constitution created the Executive Branch to address weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation, strengthening the leadership and power in the United States. The executive bench has the power to veto and negotiate. These powers are balanced by the other federal branches.
The President's Roles in the Executive Branch
One of the main people in charge in the executive branch is the President. In the “executive branch”, the President has many roles, under Article II of the Constitution, gives the President the job of carrying out and enforcing laws passed by Congress (Core Documents of Our Democracy: Executive Branch, 2019). This explains that the President has many roles in the executive branch. The President's responsibilities are included in the article that President's shape and help create national policies that affect the international relations (Core Documents of Our Democracy: Executive Branch, 2019). This highlights how the President shaped and stabilizes the Executive Branch.
Everyone's Roles in the Government
In the executive branch there are many parts and sections and that is why over 2 million people work in the executive branch. The executive branch employs around 2 million people, excluding active military and seasonal workers (Core Documents of Our Democracy: Executive Branch, 2019). Many people are in the workforce for the executive branch. Congress also has the ability to establish and create federal agencies, Article I gives Congress the power to organize agencies and determine how they should operate. (Core Documents of Our Democracy: Executive Branch, 2019). Due to these powers Congress has the ability to make agencies and get rid of them. In the executive branch the framers of the constitution gave congress the power to declare war. It is generally known that the President could direct the military to protect the country during attacks, but Congress has to approve long-term military (The Executive Branch, 2026). This suggests that in order for the President to declare “war”, they need permission from congress
Significance
The executive branch is a crucial component of the “U.S.” government established to provide leadership and unity. It employs many people and all of the government plays a role in the executive branch. The Executive Branch is responsible for regulating daily actions in the "U.S.", such as enforcing laws and securing public safety not only that but it also balances powers throughout all the branches.
