Art to me, is an expressive way that represents something, such as a meaning. This could be a visual representation using painting and pictures, or performing arts using music, dance, and theatrics. Also, it could be a very simplistic exhibit with a deep meaning, or a big peice of art with a simple meaning. Art helps the viewer visualize a message the create was intending to convey. Even paintings that may be abstract, or dances where they stay still for half the performance, all mean something. Art has meaning.
Here, we created pictures on Google Slides using shapes and lines. On each slide we distorted them, and changed them so the picture would become a different image. After, we analyzed which one of our pictures were more inviting and carried the viewers attention.
Today in class we watched videos about ancient civilizations and looked at their development. In our groups, we decided on specific ancient civilizations to research and plan our play.
During the Neolithic Revolution, agriculture became a new form of gathering food and crops. Before this time period, men would be the hunters searching for food for the household. While, women would do the same as well as maintain the household. As a result of the discoveration of agriculture, Men’s role tremendously changed compared to women. Couples started having more children, which mean’t women would have to care for them at home, and the men of the house grow and harvest crops for the family. Agriculture led to the division of social groups as occupational groups became more separated. There were jobs like toolmakers, farmers, and even people who worked in the government. The Caste System is also an example of this social inequality amongst civilizations.
As previously mentioned in the first paragraph, tools and government were advanced as a result of the Neolithic Period. Tools like bow and arrows and axes were created, which later improved the cities’ militaries from potential invaders. They could also be used for cutting down trees which was a practice in agriculture.
An example of how Interregional trade routes led to the spread of religions is Buddhism and the Silk Roads. Buddhist merchants built temples and shrines along the Silk Road where priests and monks were established. They would preach to travelors that would then spread the religion themselves.
A centralize government is when one group of people have decision-making power. A decentralized government is when governments have different workers who make decisions based off of the job they work in. An example of a centralized government is the Han Dynasty, which had a centralized monarchy and Qin was the emperor.
Centralized Governments: when one group of people have decision-making power.
Social Stratification: the social inequality between people based on occupation, wealth, and/or power
Neolithich Revolution: the development of agriculture practices and technological farming advancements
Civilization: a populated city or state in which people have a system/government that keeps it under control
Trade Relations: when emires build connections to encourage trading resources
Dictator: a leader of a state or empire
Today we finalized our brainstorming document and outlined the basic events in our play. We moved to formulating a plan and establishing stories for our characters. Today we were productive, but had a hard time specifying our storyline.
Today we had a writing workshop with guest actor, John Doyle. He helped us established the characteristics of our characters. We finished developing scene 1 of our play.
This game was an opportunity for me to be able to follow true or false directions under a time crunch. In order to succeed in the game, you must look at the boolean statement it gives you, and pick the number-colored boxes that are True for that statement. As you get further in the levels, the time starts running down and the statements are more specific. Booleans are simply yes or no questions that are in the form of True or False statements. In programming, if the code is true for a boolean statement, an action will be performed. Otherwise, if proven false then a different response will run. It's similar to an if/else statement.

Mandala is used in Hinduism and Buddhism, primarily, and used as a map representing deities. It is usually made for meditating purposes and also represents a spiritual journey. Mandalas can be seen in many different architures and art, and for cultures it serves as centering people or an individual. It allows a peace of mind. I see a lot of balance, shapes, and colors within Mandalas. The colors serve as symbols of elements and spirtual meanings. You can use mandalas to draw bohr models.

This electron configuration mandala project integrated steam by including different principals of design, chemistry elements, and artistic skills, all in one artwork. I used the elements of art we learned along with different mandala-making techniques, which helped me create a very detailed piece. From chemistry, I utilized my knowledge about electron configurations and atomic structures, to properly create my element, Potassium, into a mandala. Despite taking geometry last year, I could still use different geometric shapes and angles to add symmetry and balance to my piece. Lastly, with AP World History, understanding the history of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity, really inspired me to take different elements from each symbol and add them to my own creation. Mandalas help me consider the new perspectives of connecting with my inner self and universe, as that is what it’s predominantly utilized for. This project was very successful because I properly added different elements from each class and religious mandala symbol. If I was the teacher, I would tech students how to properly draw and use mandala techniques, so the future pieces will be more detailed and similar.
1) I've learned the importance of using all materials and tools, as well as not doing the bare minimum with my work. In art, we all have to thoroughly do our work to receive the best results. I also learned how to creatively think outside the box. Exploring new ways to do things, such as recycling paper to make a thicker paper, made me realize how the possibilities for learning are endless.
2) I've done drawings with charcoal and shading that showed value with the lightness and darkness. The Mandala Project emphasized variety, shape, and balance. The Linear Perspective project showed emphasis and movement.
3) I can experiment with different possibilities by thinking of different outcomes and results and thinking of how I can create those. It's interesting to see the different opportunities you have to really change art pieces, by minor changes. I can show my process by taking pictures and recording my progress.
4) I learned about "The School of Art" Renaissance artwork in this class. This also tied into my AP World History class, as we were talking about it at the same time.
Last semester I ended the year off with an A, and was able to do well on my tests during the past units. I should've prioritized doing my homework and classwork worksheets more, instead of letting them slip behind. Last semester, I learned the material better through Edpuzzle and notes afterward. Also, projects helped me research and understand the lesson better. My goals for this upcoming semester are for my grades to remain at A's, and stay on top of all my work by the end of May. I would like to be able to make a song/rap for a future project that helps me remember rules or instructions for a method and strategy.
Borax is a salt that is a crystalline solid that dissolves in water to make a basic solution. Its chemical formula is Na₂H₂₀B₄O₁₇ (Sodium, Oxygen, and Hydrogen). We use hot water to help dissolve the borax into the water (solvent). Supersaturation is when we use hot water to mix in the borax, yet add more of the solute than the maximum amount it can contain at a low temperature. When the water temperature cools down, borax may fall out of the mixture causing crystals to form. My structure is dynamic because it first starts as a regular pipe cleaner structure, and later will form crystals on top, changing its physical features.
In the 1900s, artists began deviating from the traditional, objective art style, and showing the free flow of paint that depicted deeper meanings. In African artwork, they utilize abstract patterns and shapes to represent the wisdom of a tribe. They also act as a record of the events and daily activities of that tribe. In abstract art, artists commonly use lines and shapes to show movements/flows in the artwork. Sometimes artists detect or sense science or math when they see abstract art. Synthesia can occur when artists sometimes think of math when they paint a certain color, or vice versa. Data can be displayed as graphs, plots, or charts. These visual demonstrations are like abstract artworks and share insight with audiences. Data-based art is more structured as well. I like to work expressively because it allows me to demonstrate my creativity more freely in various ways.

In this project, I collaborated with my Film and AP Language class, to create a reimagined ending to the novel, The Great Gatsby. This project was a little frustrating initially, due to my unbalanced schedule between both classes, so I served as a PA (Production Assistance). Throughout the pre-production experience, I created promotional posters, assisted with the script, and filled in for actors during rehearsals. I mainly worked with Group B (B-day Group) when visiting the set warehouse, and ensured none of our actors forgot their lines. This process was very engaging and fun, however, some challenges I faced were having to adapt to changes and new groups. To the right is a slideshow outlining my group's work in this PBL project.
