Hello! My name is Sydney Gaines, a senior at Drew Charter School, and I have greatly grown as a leader. Throughout high school, I’ve discovered a deep and lasting passion for understanding people, from the science behind how the brain works to the emotional and social realities students face every day. This passion has fueled my work in mental health advocacy, neuroscience exploration, and student leadership. Whether organizing mental health workshops, launching service projects, or speaking on behalf of my peers, I’ve committed myself to building safer, more inclusive spaces. These efforts reflect both my interest in how the brain and behavior are connected and my belief in the power of community care. My goal has always been to make others feel seen, heard, and supported—and I plan to carry this mission into every space I enter moving forward.
