Chemistry

PBL Chemistry Blub

This Chemistry portion of the Food for Thought PBL project allowed us to use molecular and ionic bonding to explain mixtures and bonds in ingredients. These ingredients were used in our desserts/food creations made during the Columbian Exchange APWH competition. My group members, Brooklynn Cauruth and Avery Moreland, completed this section of the project.

Food for Thought Art

For ChemVas Art, our classes were distributed into groups where we completed many tasks. We learned how to correctly use pinch, slab, and coil techniques to elevate our pottery styles. Utilizing these strategies helped my group create dishes that would be displayed on our placemat. The placemats were customized posters of restaurants surrounding our neighborhoods. I worked with Suri C. and Alexus M. on this project.

AP World History

Columbian Exchange Food Competition

This project was a competition between different randomly generated groups in our APWH classes. In each of the groups, we were individually assigned ingredients to bring into class, that were based on exchanged items during the Columbian Exchange. Whoever could create the tastiest dish was selected to cook in the final round during PBL. I worked with Suri C., Michelle A., Kenadie S., and Avery M. on this project.

Food for Thought Cookbook

In AP Computer Science Principles, the Sophomores who take the 1A class were asked to modify and add their recipes to the 10th Grade Cookbook for this PBL. I helped add different groups' recipes along with pictures on different pages.

ELA Food for Thought Original Recipes

In ELA, we were broken up into groups at our tables to decide on one dish to create. In our dishes, we had to incorporate one of the ingredients we brought in, in APWH. Once we decided on our new dish, we collaborated to create an official recipe and name for it. The class presented their dishes to everyone and we discovered new, tasty treats. I worked with Justin C., Brooklynn C., Avery M., Destiny D., & Jackson H.
