Students learned how artists use the four parts of space to draw a realistic landscape. In this images you (the viewer) may feel as though you can walk right into the world created in each of these drawings.
While drawing these images, students also explored ways to use lines to draw the contours of objects and textures to add life and details.
For this project, students studied how various artists throughout history and today work to find their visual voice. This means how an artist develops the stylistic look that makes their work recognizable.
Students were challenged to think of a way to express who they are through portrait. Some chose to actually depict themselves while others explored drawing activities, objects, or places that connect to their own identity.
Atmospheric Perspective | Students learned the beginner technique of changing the value (lightness or darkness) of colors to create the effect of atmospheric perspective. This means that as we see colors closer to us, they appear richer and more solid. When we look at colors that get further and further away they begin to appear lighter and more translucent.
