NC Fine Arts GRAD-004

North Carolina Law GRAD-004 states that students who entered the 6th grade starting fall of 2022 must complete a Fine Arts standard course of study. Going forward, this means that students are required to obtain a Fine Arts credit towards high school graduation. The courses that qualify for this credit at Githens are as follows: Visual Art, Band, Chorus, & Dance.

We encourage students to fulfill this requirement at the middle school level so that students can have an increase opportunity to follow whichever elective sequence they wish to, especially if their sequence is in programs other than Fine Arts.
